The funeral details have been announced of former Fine Gael and Independent councillor Hughie McElvaney.
He died peacefully today at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
The Corcaghan man was a local representative in Monaghan for 50 years, before retiring from the role last year prior to the local elections.
The late Hughie McElvaney was the Mayor of Monaghan four times, and was elected to Monaghan County Council on 10 occasions.
The well-known public representative will repose at his home on Thursday from 4pm until 9pm and on Friday from 4pm until 9pm.

Removal will take place on Saturday at 10.30am, arriving at St Michael’s Church, Corcaghan for Funeral Mass at 11am.
Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
