The funeral of Former Fianna Fáil councillor and community stalwart Mary Cunningham will take place later today.
The Clones woman has been described by those who knew her locally as a "woman of huge integrity."
Although the Clones woman stopped being a councillor a number of years ago, Senator Robbie Gallagher said this didn't stop her being a "community person."
In a touching tribute posted online, Clones FC said Mary was a "truly historic lady of Clones - a community icon whose immense contribution to politics, community life, and sport leaves a lasting legacy."
"From her days playing Camogie in the 50s and 60s to her energetic media work promoting Ladies Football she helped bring Monaghan teams to national recognition."
The funeral mass of the late Mary Cunningham will take at the Sacred Heart Church, Clones at 11am this morning. Burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery.
