Garda recruitment is on the rise right across the country. That's according to local Senator Robbie Gallagher, who says that the latest figures show "sustained" and "ongoing" recruitment with an overall increase of almost 10% compared to 2015.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Senator Gallagher believes the increased garda presence across the country highlights the Government's commitment towards building "stronger" and "safer" communities.
He revealed that Gardaí on the beat are now supported by 3,130 garda staff, which is over 50% more than the number of staff in 2015. This is something which according to Senator Gallagher "needs to be developed further."
