Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with their investigation into a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the L1513 at Drumlark, Loreto Wood, Co. Cavan on Tuesday 17th February 2026.
The man, aged in his 20s, is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a station in the Garda North Western Region.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a hit-and-run single-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on L1513 Drumlark, Loreto Wood, Co. Cavan on Tuesday 17th February 2026.
The collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred shortly after 6.45pm on February 17th.
The female pedestrian, aged in her 20s was injured and taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot. The male passenger, aged in his 20s, was seriously injured. He was removed from the scene to Cavan General Hospital.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision and any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
