Gardaí are currently investigating an alleged case of fraud within the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board. The suspected fraud dates back to 2022.
The issue was mentioned in the latest meeting of CMETB this month. The matter arose as the chief executive and others delivered details of the annual audit for members.
When Northern Sound enquired about the fraud a spokesperson for CMETB said the board "cannot provide any information as there is an ongoing Garda investigation in relation to this case.
The spokesperson also said "The financial statements for 2024 will be reviewed by C&AG (Comptroller and Auditor General) during an audit in Q3 2025 and laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas before they can be published on our website."
