Government needs to "wake up" and "face reality"

A Cavan Monaghan TD believes that the Government needs to "wake up and face reality".

Cathy Bennett was reacting to an announcement this week that no one's gas or electricity will be disconnected over the Christmas period.

Deputy Bennett described how she shook her head in disbelief when the Minister made the statement.

She pointed to 300,000 households behind on their electricity bills at the moment, and noted that number will creep up.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, the Sinn Fein Deputy said the government needs to help the regular person.
