A well-known Co Monaghan school has been given the seal of approval for a major extension.
Inver College in have been given the green light by Monaghan County Council for a large extension including new classrooms and a new hall.
The approved application will allow CMETB construct a new two storey extension including a new Special Education Unit, 4 specialist classrooms, two S.E.T rooms and a General Purpose Hall.
The building, which was built in 1959, is set to be demolished to accommodate the new extension. Alteration works to the existing school building to accommodate three new specialist classrooms also form part of the application. Also included are 60 new bicycle spaces, 30 of which will be covered, and a new car parking layout consisting of 53 car spaces, 4 of which will be disabled bays, as well as vehicle and SEN set down areas.
35 solar panels above the one storey extension's roof are set to be installed with any excess energy sold back to the grid.
An appropriate assessment screening has been completed as part of this application, stage 1 and 2 road safety audit has also been carried out and a out door lighting report has also been submitted. The go-ahead has been given for this major development with 14 conditions attached.
