A well-known hotel in Monaghan Town has been given the green light for significant upgrades.
The Westenra Arms had applied to Monaghan County Council for the change of use of the second floor bar to additional accommodation.
The go-ahead will allow seven new bedrooms and ensuites, along the conversion of two of the seven new bedrooms into enabling bedrooms and shower rooms. Two bedrooms on the first floor are also set to be converted to accessible rooms.
Retention of secure Car Park incorporating 29 car parking spaces together with the provision of electric charging points make up the approved application.
Monaghan County Council gave the green light for these works at the local hotel with 7 conditions attached.
