Increase in dogs surrendered in Monaghan in last 3 months

Most of these were for genuine reasons by the owner.

There has been a noticeable increase in the number of dogs being surrendered in Monaghan in the last 3 months.

Brendan Smyth the Monaghan County Veterinary Officer says that compared to 18 months ago when they struggled to find dogs for families, they are now plentiful in the pound.

He says that of those surrendered 50% are being surrendered by their owners.
