A local man behind Bóthar North East says he has sent up to 300 cows to the developing world.
Bóthar is the Irish international charity that provides the gift of livestock as a means of long-term development aid.
Bóthar enables families and communities to overcome hunger and poverty in a sustainable way, specialising in improved livestock production and support-related training in the community. which has been in operation for over 3 decades helping people.
It all started in the North East with Inniskeen man Tom Byrne, founder member, who started out with two nanny goats and three kids.
From goats the helping initiative changed to the gifting of milking cows which becomes a gamechanger for the family that is receiving the cow. Tom says the gift of a cow has a ever lasting impact on a family. The Inniskeen man says the support locally has been amazing down through the years.
