A local councillor has welcomed the announcement made by Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill that all women will be able to access Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for free from June 1st. The free HRT scheme was originally due to come into effect back in January. Despite the delay, Cllr Sinead Flynn has described this latest development as a "step in the right direction" for women's health.
Cllr Flynn believes for this scheme to "work in practice not just principle" the department must work closely and insure agreement with the Irish Pharmacists Union (IPU) to adequately cover prescription charges and dispensing fees.
