Inver College staff forced to collect rain in buckets

A staff rep told CMEWTB meeting when it rains in Inver, staff have to put down 10 buckets to collect water.

While Inver College wait for works on a new building and extension to be completed at their school, staff have to put down buckets to catch water when it rains. A staff representative from the secondary school attended the most recent meeting of the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board She told the meeting that when it rains in Carrickmacross, staff have to put down 10 buckets to collect water run-off. The rep said her colleagues asked her to "express urgency" when addressing the board meeting on their behalf.

Last November, Inver College applied to Monaghan County Council for planning permission for a new two-storey extension including new classrooms and hall and special education unit.  The CMETB meeting was told the planning application has been delayed because the Council has asked the design team to provide further information.

A CMETB member told the Inver College staff member: "We liaise with the principal and Department regularly and offer support when we can". Councillor Seamus Coyle said these delays are common but joined calls for the planning application to proceed as a "matter of urgency" (listen below):
