A convicted drug dealer has been rushed to hospital over severe facial injuries following an attack at Loughan House.
The serious incident occurred on Monday of this week at the Cavan low security prison.
The prisoner who is believed to be from Dublin and has over 50 previous convictions was taken to Sligo University Hospital for treatment.

The Irish Prison Service confirmed that the incident occurred and they say the matter is subject to investigation and was reported to An Garda Síochána. At this stage investigations are continuing.
