Investigation underway after man's body discovered in Cavan

An investigation is underway after the body of a man aged in his 40's was discovered in Co Cavan.

Emergency services were alerted to the discovery shortly after 3 o'clock this morning at a home on Connolly Street in Cavan town.

The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified, and a post-mortem is due to take place.

Gardaí say the results of that will determine the course of the investigation.

The scene is now being examined by experts from the Technical Bureau.
