Tributes have been pouring in following the passing of a well-known Co. Cavan businessman.
Proprietor of the White Horse Hotel and Cootehill Livestock Mart, Jimmie Brady passed away yesterday.
He has been remembered as a 'formidable force' in the Co. Cavan business landscape, owning marts and hotels across the county and surrounding areas.
Cootehill councillor Carmel Brady shared some of her memories of the beloved businessman: "Jimmie was a very astute businessman, he was a very hard-worker as was his wife Ann and they were always in the hotel and always willing to meet the public and have a chat.
"The staff was brilliant over the years also, people used to say if you didn't get married in the White Horse Hotel you didn't get married at all. That was one thing Jimmie was famous for at weddings or dinner dances and things like that, he would go round with the gravy bowl chatting to people. He was a gentleman and if you worked for him you got to know the real Jimmie and he was a very hard worker and a very generous man."
Jimmie will be reposing at his home today, with removal on Wednesday morning at 10:30am for 11am funeral mass at St Michael's Church in his native Cootehill.
