Leaving Cert students across Cavan and Monaghan are celebrating results day.
Nationally, over 61 thousand students sat the Leaving Certificate exams in total this year.
In Cavan 909 pupils sat their Leaving Cert with a further 97 enrolled in Leaving Cert Applied.
In Monaghan there were 781 Leaving Cert Applied candidates enrolled.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Principal of Largy College in Clones, Sharon Magennis said she was delighted with the overall results today.
She told Northern Sound that 25% of students at Largy College received over 500 points which is the best set of results that the school has recorded in recent years:
Northern Sound also spoke with students from St Louis Secondary School, who were over the moon to receive their results, but stated that it was a bitter sweet day having enjoyed their school years there.
However they are all excited for the next chapter ahead:
New principal of St Louis Secondary School in Monaghan Town, James Sherry is also over the moon with today's Leaving Cert results.
He told Northern Sound that he remembers this cohort of girls when they first entered the school hall as first years and that it's a "privilege" to see the transition and how they have blossomed over the last six years to reach their fullest potential.
He said it's a "tremendous occasion" to see the Leaving Cert students today as they gear up to move on to the next stage in their lives:
