Monaghan County Council have applied to purchase a well known building in Monaghan Town.
The council have submitted an application to An Bórd Pleanála for a compulsory acquisition of numbers 24-26 Market Street.
The building was formally occupied by Albany Home Decor however it has now been derelict for a number of years.

A compulsory acquisition of a building is usually done for public infrastructure projects or projects for the common good.
The application is now before the higher planning authority and decision will be made on it over the summer.
