Local biodiversity projects set to benefit from new funding

The funding will support 53 community initiative in 20 counties under the National Parks and Wildlife Service Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2026.

Biodiversity conservation projects in Cavan and Monaghan are set to benefit from funding.
€134, 844 has been announced to support biodiversity projects in Cavan and Monaghan.
Nationally, the announcement provides €1.1 million in funding for 53 community projects through the Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2026.
In Monaghan, a total of €80,000 will be spent on four projects.

The projects set to benefit are, River Blackwater Catchment Trust - Sliabh Beagh Restoration Phase 5: €25,610, River Blackwater Catchment Trust - Cor Bog Restoration Phase 3: €20,000, Muineachán le Gaeilge - Sé do Bheatha ar Shliabh Beatha: Comhshaol agus Cultúr: €2,450 and Tydavnet Group Water Scheme Ltd - Lough Antraicer Catchment Peatland Restoration Phase 2 Scope & Budget: €31,941
In Cavan two project will receive a combined total of €15,843.
They are, St Kilian's Heritage Trust - St Kilian's Heritage Centre: €15,960 and Killyconny Bog Project - signage and bog day events: €38,883.
The funding will support 53 community initiative in 20 counties under the National Parks and Wildlife Service Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2026.
