Met Éireann is warning motorists still to be cautious on the roads, with dangerous conditions set to remain into tonight. The last of the weather warnings expired earlier this afternoon, after a series of Status Orange and Yellow alerts over the past week.

In Monaghan town, Londis Owner Jim McConnan, says this week’s cold snap has made what’s already a quiet month for businesses, even quieter: "This morning is extremely cold so it leaves us having to up the heat in the shop which is another expensive even when you're quieter. People only leave the house for the bare essentials." Sound Quality Gifts Owner Helen Drumm, says she’s thankful her business hasn’t suffered too badly: "I have been selling a lot of my beautiful blankets with different sayings on them and my rainshader umbrellas because it's keeping the cold, wind and snow from them. It has been a little bit quieter but those who come in want me to warm them up so we have a little jive."
