A local councillor is calling for urgent and targeted supports for small and rural businesses.
Cllr Sinead Flynn warned that many local businesses are unfortunately struggling to survive under increasing financial pressures and shrinking margins.
She believes small and rural businesses are being squeezed from all sides and there is a serious gap when it comes to supports being offered.
The local representative said she was contacted by a local shopkeeper who revealed that her lotto and mobile top-up services were going to be removed because she is not reaching the high sale targets that are set for her, even though these service are vital to customers who rely on them daily.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Flynn questioned how a small rural shop can be expected to survive under that level of pressure?
Cllr Flynn said it's important to ensure that we have meaningful and essential funding put into our small rural businesses:
