Cavan Senator, Pauline Tully, has called of the Retrofit Ready project to be reviewed, and rolled out across the country.
The scheme was launched over two years ago across the Monaghan, Cavan, Sligo, and Leitrim.
It was an initiative to bridge the knowledge gap between home owners and communities who wanted to retrofit their homes.
There were two community retrofit champions appointed, who worked with the public to provide information about retrofitting homes.
Speaking in the Seanad this afternoon, Senator Tully praised the project, and described it as "very, very successful".
She said that money should be invested in the scheme.
Speaking in the Seanad today, she said: "It's something we should be looking to invest in.
"There's a lot of older, colder, houses out there. Especially now with the cost of energy rising on a continuous basis, people would be willing to fill out the application forms.
"This provided a great service to people," she added.
