A local councillor has called on Cavan County Council to help support local towns and villages to become dementia friendly.
Cllr Damien Brady said over 64,000 people have dementia in Ireland with over 1,000 living in Cavan.
He said simple adaptations can make a huge difference to someone who has dementia. Cllr Brady said simple changes would also reduce the stigma that is surrounding dementia.
Cllr Philip Brady also showed his support towards the motion adding that the FTD brothers and what they did in recent weeks with 33 marathons really highlighted dementia.
He said the support they received especially in Cavan was very special.
Cllr Damien Brady says it would be great to see changes being made that would help a lot of people living in the county.
