The need for the public to remain mindful, vigilant and careful towards fire safety during warm weather cannot be overstated.
That's according to Monaghan's Chief Fire Officer Dermot Brannigan.
He said people need to be extra cautious when out in natural habitats during the current warm weather and to be conscious of the impact of human actions
Mr Brannigan said that most of these fires that can occur in our outdoors are accidentally started, adding that most people are unknowingly aware of the danger.
The local man says that with prolonged periods of dry weather the susceptibility to fire increases.
The Chief Fire Officer said most local authority fire services have responded to a significant number of gorse fires in the last number of weeks due to this prolonged spell of dry weather.
Dermot has this advise for people out enjoying the great weather.
