A Monaghan County Councillor is calling for work on the River Blackwater be carried out in North Monaghan.
Pauric Clerkin was calling on the council to write to Kevin "Boxer" Moran requesting that his department prioritise and carry out ongoing and effective maintenance works on the River Blackwater.
He raised the issue at the recent full meeting of Monaghan County Council.

Cllr Clerkin wants to particularly request the OPW urgently address the recurring and severe flooding issues impacting Kilfahavon and Figullar near Emyvale.
He said residents are repeatedly cut off for days at a time due to high water levels and impassable roads.
Speaking to Northern Sound he said residents are concerned.
