Galway County Council agreed to write to the Minister of Trade, Minister of local Government and the Taoiseach to raise concerns about the CETA providing additional rights to multinational corporations to sue the state outside of ordinary legal systems we currently have will undermine EU social, health and environmental standards.

The Council acknowledges that many of the trade elements are already in place and does not need the addition of corperations being able to sue the Irish Government through the Investor Court Systems when any new law affect their profits.

Cllr Colm Carthy called on his council colleagues to support the motion.
