A Co Monaghan councillor has expressed strong concern over increased school transport charges for the upcoming academic year.
Cllr Sinead Flynn warned that costs have doubled for some families, with primary school transport rising from €50 to €100 per child and post-primary increasing to €100, while family caps have also significantly increased.
She says this is placing a much heavier burden on families, especially those with more than one child.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Flynn warned that families are at the pin of their collar, living week to week, and another increase in costs is the last thing they need.
She added that the increase comes at a time when many households are already struggling with the cost of living.
