Local councillor urges drivers not to use mobile phone on the road

Monaghan County Council are finalising the 5-year Road Safety plan in line with national guidance.

A local councillor has highlighted the importance of not using your mobile device while driving.Cllr Raymond Aughey warned that phones are a massive cause of accidents everywhere.
Monaghan County Council are finalising the 5-year Road Safety plan in line with national guidance.
The plan will be finalised in Q2 2026 and presented to members thereafter.

The 'Road Safety Working Together group' involves representatives from the Garda, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, RSA and Monaghan County Council.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Raymond Aughey said road safety is a "massive issue" right across Co Monaghan.
