A Monaghan cyclist said he would support proposals to make helmets and hi-vis jackets mandatory for cyclists.
Francis Meehan, who has been cycling for 57 years, said that wearing a helmet saved his life following a serious road traffic collision in 1983.
His story comes as the Government considers proposals that could make helmets and hi-vis' mandatory for cyclists.

Francis also noted that there is a need for more cycle lanes.
