A Monaghan GP says that hayfever symptoms can be dependant on the type of pollen someone is allergic to.
Dr Illona Duffy noted that year on year the pollen season seems to be extending, and that winter has not been as cold so grasses, trees, flowers etc are starting to grow a little bit earlier leading to more pollen in the air.
She outlined that for those who have pollen allergies, it can dependent on what pollen they are allergic to, for example in early spring lot of will be tree pollens and beginning into grass pollens.Whereas later on the summer there might be more flower pollens.
Dr Duffy is encouraging anyone who is showing symptoms to start their treatment.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, she outlined the symptoms of hayfever.
