The Dáil is currently debating a confidence motion in the coalition Government.
The Taoiseach earlier admitted that the Government did not "anticipate" the blockading of fuel depots in the last week.
Meanwhile, some Fianna Fáil TDs and senators expressed concern over how the events of the last seven days were handled, with Higher Education Minister James Lawless saying some in Government were "caught unawares."
Cavan-Monaghan Sinn Fein TD Cathy Bennett says recent protests were justified as "people are simply fed up."
It comes as her party tables a no confidence motion in the government this afternoon.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Bennett said Sinn Fein has been trying to push motions like this over the last six to twelve months because Government has not been listening and people have therefore lost confidence.
Deputy Bennett told Northern Sound: "People can’t take it anymore. Fine Gael and Fianna Fail still haven’t taken the necessary steps to make fuel affordable at the pumps. The Government also did absolutely nothing for home heating oil despite it hitting its highest price on record.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Brendan Smith, disagreed with comments made by Deputy Smith and said he will be voting in favour of the Government's taxation measures.
He warned that if vote of confidence was lost, mean a general election would be called, there Sinn Fein and other parties in opposition are proposing that we do not implement the 505 million euro package as that legislation must go through the Dail tonight.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Bennett said he understand the concerns of families, farms and businesses and the pressures that they have been under for weeks.
While he believes a package should have been put forward earlier, it's extremely important now this this current package is implemented.
