A group of students from a Co. Monaghan school took part in a Ciorcal Comhrá to celebrate Seachtaine na Gaeilge today.
Students from Beech Hill College in Co. Monaghan visited An Nead café in Monaghan town at lunch-time.
Over coffee and scones, the students had a casual lunch, while practicing their Irish language skills.
Speaking to Northern Sound at the café, some of the students explained how excited they were to get to use the language outside of the classroom.
Sarah Ní Raghailligh is a student in Beech Hill, who also works part time in the café.
She explained what impact the Irish language café is having in the local community.
Sarah said: "It's really nice to see people behind the counter using their Irish. Even when they're stressed, they're still using their cúpla focail and their Irish, it's really great to see.
"Since An Nead has opened I've seen a lot more Irish. People aren't afraid to use what Irish to have. They're more comfortable, it's become more natural for people," she added.
Eoghan O'Corcoran is also a student in Beech Hill.
He told Northern Sound about how the Ciorcal Comhrá gives him a rare opportunity to practice his skills.
Eoghan said: "I don't have many opportunities to use Irish outside of school. Having a teacher who can help you with new words, grammar, and vocabulary is really helpful as well.
"I'm lucky to have friends who are fluent in Irish, so I try and speak Irish to them as well. Even my younger brothers, I try and use my cúpla focail, and hopefully try and teach them something," he added.
