Cavan-Monaghan TD Cathy Bennett along with Sinn Fein MLA Colm Gildernew attended the Sliabh Beagh Hotel for a presentation from the Blackwater Catchment Trust.
The presentation focused on the new fire prevention plan needed for the Sliabh Beagh area.
The plan will incorporate: Prevention of Wild Fires, Detection of Wild Fires and Fighting Wild Fires.
Deputy Bennett said it is a "very important issue" that needs to be addressed adding that "prevention is better than cure."
Fires on the Sliabh Beagh cost up on €1,000,000 in damage to the area and cause damage to invasive species.
