Construction on only two houses in County Cavan and four in County Monaghan was begun last month. The figures are contained in a report released by the Department of Housing earlier today making public the latest commencement figures for last month. The picture was a little more optimistic in the first month of 2025 as five houses were started in January in Monaghan but a healthy 37 was started in County Cavan in the same month.
Nationally, 1,017 homes commenced in February 2025. Last year, 712 homes were commenced in County Cavan and 403 in Monaghan.
