A local TD has hailed men's sheds as a wonderful way to tackle rural isolation.
Minister Niamh Smyth paid tribute to all the members of the local groups who she says do so much for their communities.
She made the comments as funding for 14 men's sheds locally were announced this week for Cavan and Monaghan along with others across the country.
Grants of up to €3,000 have been available to assist men's sheds with their running and operational costs such as heating, utility and insurance bills.
Minister Smyth says the role that men's sheds play is huge when it comes to tackling rural isolation.
She says the community groups have been a game changer for a significant cohort of men across the country.
