Local TD raises issues of driver licences exchanges

A Cavan-Monaghan TD has raised the issue of drivers licences exchanges.

Cathy Bennett spoke in the Dail about the issue over technical complexity in terms of reciprical exchange.

She noted that it can be an issue of bureaucracy rather than road safety.

The Sinn Fein Deputy pointed to the importance of supporting Irish Diaspora returning home.

While Deputy Bennett noted the importance of road safety, she outlined some inconsistencies in the existing system.

Speaking in the Dail she noted that she is talking about people who may have held Irish driving licences for years.
