A Cavan/Monaghan TD has been assured by ESB Networks that upgrade work has been carried out to fix a pattern of power outages in a local area.
Brendan Smith says he has received word that remedial work is being carried out to deal with power outages in the Drumalee area near Belturbet.
Deputy Smith reached out to the ESB after he was contacted by a number of residents about concerns over outages in that particular area.
The Fianna Fáil man noted that locals were anxious to have this problem resolved as soon as possible.
Speaking to Northern Sound Brendan Smith, said ESB outages have a big impact in a rural community.
"In a rural community, if there are ESB outages, it affects farming practises, maybe people dependent on a milking machine in the morning and the evening and also other farm work and electricity in farm buildings, also households, businesses and community facilities. A more recent development is the number of people who may be working from home some days of the week. They need access to an electricity supply at all times. People from different backgrounds expressed to me their concerns about a pattern of electricity outages in that particular area. I followed that matter up at the ESB and I'm very glad that they came back to me and told me that there has some remedial work has been done."
