Cavan-Monaghan TD Matt Carthy says he would not endorse Heather Humphreys in the presidential race.
He was speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning on Sinn Féin's strategy in the upcoming election.
No candidate has yet been selected to run for the Áras on behalf of the party, and it is understood Sinn Féin may not have one in place until the 20th of September.
Party leader Mary Lou McDonald says all options are being considered, including her own candidacy.
