Motorists will get the benefit of cuts to excise duties on fuel for another month.
The current cuts to excise duties on petrol and diesel have been extended until September 1st.
They’ll then be reapplied on a phased basis until the end of the year.
The reduction of 32 cent to a litre of diesel and 27 cent to a litre of petrol will continue for the time being - but the usual tax will be gradually reapplied in last four months of the year.
Despite this, Cavan-Monaghan Sinn Fein TD Matt Carthy says simply postponing the increase in taxes isn’t good enough.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Carthy said it’s "unthinkable" that tax on fuel would rise while the Dáil is on its summer break.
