A local TD is welcoming the progress being made on a major expansion of a Kingscourt school.
Cavan-Monaghan ETB proposed the works at Coláiste Dún an Rí to deliver additional permanent school accommodation at its premises.
The submission includes the provision of 23 general classrooms, 5 SET/pastoral rooms, a multimedia and DCG room, 3 science labs, 2 prep areas, a Home Economics room, an Art and Construction Studies room, as well as an Engineering and Tech prep room.
The project would also see the development of three project stores, staff room, GP/Dining room and a two-classroom SEN base.
Refurbishment works to local community centres are also included in the proposed works, which will deliver an interim teaching space.
The project is currently at stage 2B of the planning process, and is undergoing review from the Department of Education.
