A local Sinn Féin TD says she is 'delighted' her party is backing Catherine Connolly in the presidential race.
Party leader Mary Lou McDonald made the announcement yesterday, saying their job is 'to get Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael out of government.'
Earlier this week, she alluded the party's strategy for the elections would be a 'gamechanger.'
Independent Galway-West TD Catherine Connolly now has the support of Labour, the Social Democrats, People Before Profit, and the Green Party.
While there are now three confirmed candidates in the race -- Independent Catherine Connolly, Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys, and Fianna Fáil's Jim Gavin.
