A local woman has won a national award at this year’s Irish Book Awards.
The awards which are now in their 20th year were held in Dublin’s Convention Centre last night.
Non-Fiction Book of the Year went to Jacqueline Connolly with Kathryn Rogers for Deadly Silence: A Sister’s Battle to Uncover the Truth Behind the Murder of Clodagh and Her Sons by Alan Hawe.
The author’s account of the murders of her sister Clodagh and nephews Liam, Niall and Ryan by her brother-in-law in Co Cavan in August 2016.
Domestic violence against women was a dominant theme in three top prizes on the night at the annual awards.
Former president Micheal D Higgins was presented with the Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his profound impact on Irish art and culture at the awards also
