Local motorists have been asked to not make unnecessary journeys and keep up to date with the latest advice from Met Eireann.
Eleven counties along the East, including Cavan and Monaghan, have a yellow rain alert in place.
Meanwhile, five counties in the south and east of the country are under an orange rain warning, with thundery downpours being reported overnight.
