Locals across Cavan and Monaghan are being encouraged to embrace the Irish language during Seachtain na Gaelige.
Census 2022 showed that four in 10 people speak the Irish language either fluently or very well, a 6% rise on the 2016 census.
Many words As Gaelige don't have an exact English translation, and portray emotions or feelings in a different light.

These words, such as Ragaire, or Bachram, are an important part of our cultural heritage.
