There were eight reported incidents of aggressive behaviour involving dogs last year, two of which resulted in injury.
That's according to figures provided by Monaghan County Council.
Incidents involved a mix of dog types, including restricted and non-restricted breeds.
While numbers are low, Monaghan County Council says that each case requires significant enforcement and follow-up resources.
The Dog Control Service continues to operate effectively but remains structurally underfunded.
Demand for pound services, enforcement and animal welfare interventions continues to exceed available financial resources.
