Planning permission has been approved for major works at the former Canal Workers Cottage in Clones.
The Board of Clones Development Society Ltd sought planning for the redevelopment of the derelict building.
The approved plans include first floor community offices with ground floor public toilets and community tea rooms adjacent to the canal stores.

The development will consist of the removal of a derelict lean-to outbuilding adjoining the original structure and the erection of a 2-storey pitched roof extension to the gable and a single storey extension measuring approx. 87m2. Monaghan County Council gave the development that is located on Cara Street close to the Marina the green light with 6 conditions.
