An overwhelming majority of voters are blaming the Taoiseach for Fianna Fail's botched presidential campaign.
A new poll out today shows 68 percent believe Micheál Martin is responsible for the fiasco which has dogged the party internally since early October.
The findings from the Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll come ahead of the publication of an interval review into the selection of Jim Gavin as Fianna Fail's presidential candidate.
Party members were told in recent days the publication of that report could be delayed, after legal representatives for Mr Gavin requested to see a copy first - it's now expected before Christmas.
Today's poll shows 68pc of voters blame the party-leader for the fiasco, 14pc blame Mr Gavin himself, and just 5pc blame deputy leader Jack Chambers.
The public's views on future of Micheál Martin’s leadership remain largely unchanged - with just under half saying he should stand down immediately - and 33pc saying he should depart when Fianna Fáil hands back the Taoiseach’s office to Fine Gael in November 2027.
