A man has been arrested and charged following the seizure of drugs and weapons in Monaghan Town.
On Saturday night, members of the divisional drug unit stopped a car in Church Square, where a search of the driver and vehicle was carried out.
During the course of the search a number of weapons including a knuckle duster, hunting knife, and a hammer were found in the vehicle. In addition, deal bags, a small quantity of cannabis herb and cocaine, and a burner phone were also seized. When the man was searched, 9 bags of cocaine with a street value of €770 were located in his underwear. He was arrested for the sale and supply of drugs and was charged before Monaghan District Court.
