A man arrested in connection with the murder of Annie Heyneman in Ballyconnell remains in custody this afternoon.
Ms Heyneman was found dead in her home at Derrycassan Lane close to Kilnavart church at around 9.30pm on Saturday. It is understood she had been stabbed several times. Her husband Henk received serious injuries during the incident and was taken to Cavan General Hospital where his condition is described as stable A man in his 30s arrested in connection with the incident remains in custody at a garda station in Cavan. It's expected he will be either charged or released in the coming hours.
Local councillor Aine Smith says the family are very well known locally.
