A man has died following a serious assault in County Roscommon.
It happened on Barrack Street in Ballaghaderreen at around 1am on New Year's Day.
A man in his 30s was taken to Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition - Gardaí have this morning confirmed he has since passed away.

A man in his 40s has been charged in connection with the investigation.
He is due to appear before Roscommon District Court this morning.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
