A 33-year-old man has been further remanded in custody in relation to a spate of thefts from businesses across Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan.
Luke Wall, with an address at Cois na hAbhann, Bonninconlon, Ballina, Co Mayo, appeared before Monaghan Circuit Court this week.
The accused was arrested following a high-speed chase involving armed Gardai across counties Meath and Westmeath in early September and has been in custody since his arrest.
Mr Wall was charged with 22 counts, 20 of them are included in the book of evidence and 2 more will be brought before Monaghan District Court in November. Mr Wall has was sent forward for trial to appear before Monaghan Circuit Court on the charges.
The charges relate to being a trespasser on various commercial premises and businesses and committing theft there in. The dates of the alleged offences range over a period of time from July 2025 to September 2025.
An alleged theft from a beauty salon in Carrickmacross and another in Ballybay along with a theft from Kingscourt Community Centre and a funeral home in Dundalk are some of the charges that Mr Wall faces.
Two other charges that were added were alleged burglaries at the M Hotel in Carrickmacross on the 9th of September and an accountancy firm also in Carrickmacross on the 5th of August 2025.
Mr Wall did seek bail but following a contested bail application that was refused on the nature of the charges and the seriousness of the charges that the accused faces.
The court was told previously that Mr Wall had been a drug addict on crack cocaine and heroin.
Judge Raymond Finnegan at Monaghan District Court heard eariler this year that the 33 year old was getting help with his drug problems,
The court was told that the case would be adjouned until April 28th to allow for any progress in the case to be heard.
